Daadi re-launch

I am delighted to say I have just come out of a meeting with a couple of high-energy friends. Let-s talk Daadi, no it is not a language, more of a concept and these two motivate me ~ which is actually not that hard to do. I am ready to be motivated.

Living in a time of uncertainty has shelved too many ideas. I know I am not alone in this belief. I have watched friends and families hang on to what they have had, gripping tightly with the notion that all will turn back to normal and we can all pick up from where we left off. I must admit I did this with Daadi. There was a desire to carry on but as the world started spinning under a cloud of opacity, we all crouched together under the shelter of ‘Let’s wait and see’.

I have recently spoken to a British man who amidst the Covid restrictions and uncertainty of Brexit, Married his Malaysian wife and moved to Spain. ‘Against all the odds and everyone telling us it would be impossible, we did it!’ he said smiling proudly. It begs me to consider, are we living in uncertain times or are we telling ourselves that we are?

I used to tell my children ‘all is possible’ so why did I stop believing that all things are? This belief has not changed.

A DAADI meeting, refreshing and inspirational. The world is waking up to change, I needed two revolutionaries with my coffee this morning to wake me up. The challenge, point one, BUSINESS PLAN. Not the plan itself, but the challenge to write one in uncertain times. As I scroll down the list I feel the excitement.

The plan is shouting out…… ‘I CHALLENGE YOU!’ Nah! Nah! I CHALLENGE YOU!’

This is what life is, it throws you challenges. we can either reach out and catch them or we can dive back into our safety hole and rot away causing a nasty smell.

DAADI, bringing affordable sustainable clothing and products to the conscious consumer via an online platform. DAADI, creating awareness to an increasing market of conscious consumers by producing affordable sustainable fashion for everyone.

This is our ultimate challenge, can we do this? can we change mindsets that are still fueling a fast fashion industry? Here lies a huge problem but there have to be solutions and there will be many. We are not the only people wanting to find new and innovative ways to create a conscious consumer market.

I think back to a paragraph that I had published in my book about building a global face painting brand. ‘If we had been chemists, professional cosmeticians, and make-up artists with knowledge of the industry, we probably would never have created what we did.’ They say knowledge is power and to a point, I agree with that, often it is better to not know what you are facing. Keep the dream alive, do not try to kill it.

I feel the same about Daadi. It has started with a concept, we are looking at the challenges in the dark. Gradually we will turn the lights on and start building a foundation. All of a sudden I feel uncertainty turning into excitement turning problems into challenges. There is a lot to learn about in this industry and it is so different from the one my mother worked in.

My motivation is simple. I want my children and grandchildren to grow up in a better world. I want this throw-away mindset to develop into one that chooses value over cheapness. I want my clothes to stop falling apart and more importantly the person who made them to get a fair living wage. This is the dream, now the reality. I have a business plan to work on.
