Sometimes I’m a Tourist, re-discovering Ibiza.

It has been wonderful to come back here and create more memories. This time I am here as a tourist as my past visits have always been linked to work. However the traveler in me, enforces those much needed moments to just sit and write and take it all in. I love my life in those moments. I am grateful.

Walking back to our hotel the other evening, we bumped into a guy who was also on his way home and just happened to stop and offer some friendly chat. We bumped into him again the next day and we all shared a drink together. This is the goddess Tanit at work, making sure we do not leave this island without making connections. Tim lives in Ibiza, originally from Yorkshire, he did the club scene here and now sells properties. I must say he never gave us any sales patter. Instead he offered to walk to the top of the castle with us and be our tour guide.

As we pass the little shops there are some steep but do-able stone steps to climb to the top. You can also go through some tunnels which will take you into a myriad of little streets.

Spanning 2500 years, founded by the Phoenicians, this wonderful castle and surrounding streets was one of the most important coastal cities of the Mediterranean. During the Renaissance, King Charles 1 and Phillip 11 of Spain added further walls to defend against invasions from the French and the Ottomans. You get a sense of how it was, tourism is dead at the moment and the castle is eerily silent. Fortunately the bar at the bottom of the Castle remains in business. We needed a drink following the climb

Today we are off again to San Antonio, a twenty minute bus ride. San Antonio I know very well from my earlier visits. We are off to have lunch with some friends I have not seen for over twenty years. I am so excited.

The colours of Ibiza have always been my favourite. Maybe it is something to do with the light here. In inspires you and I think about being more creative.

Covid has changed our direction of travel. Ibiza was not on my agenda but I am so glad I am here now. New ideas floating around my head, I am hearing new places calling. Please visit Ibiza. It is awesome.

Hiya, I am Lauren, a lifestyle traveller, writer and health Nerd. Due to lockdown I decided to get on with writing my blog and catching up with friends new and old. I believe we are one world that for most of us wants to promote peace and goodwill to each other, wherever you are in the world I wish you well. I hope we connect and share our stories.
