My Promise – Poem

/
1 min read

My promise.

Hands clasped to mine we have walked.

As giants together we have faced our adventures.

And now you face it alone as you have done before.

And I face mine as I hurt not to be with you.

You, a daughter of determined demands.

I love your endurance I shower it with pride

You a daughter of laughter and mischief

Who embellishes her independence.

Then looks back to see if I am still there.

Watching.

My promise is maybe silent.

Be certain I will keep it.

My hand reaches out to clasp yours.

I will never let go.

I will be there when you look back.

From the corner of your eye,

To an aching piece of heart,

I am there.

My daughter Megan starts University today, A new journey and a new adventure. This poem was written for her.

Hiya, I am Lauren, a lifestyle traveller, writer and health Nerd. Due to lockdown I decided to get on with writing my blog and catching up with friends new and old. I believe we are one world that for most of us wants to promote peace and goodwill to each other, wherever you are in the world I wish you well. I hope we connect and share our stories.
