with you, i am here. A poem related to loss.

There brings, on wave,

an immortal sound,

to walk on shells,

some coral found.

And in my hand I grasp at form,

and I’m at one with ocean born.

For not a whisper aimed at me,

just sun and sand and silent sea.

This morning in my dreams, as waking,

I heard you in the kitchen making,

cups of tea to share in bed,

A memory smiles within in my head.

Return up on the wave and surf,

your ashes mingle in red earth.

Distanced not, how far we roam,

a whistling kettle brings me home

My home is empty of your sound,

ghosts of you in pictures found

The ocean sings eternity,

and where there’s you, you will find me.

How could loss be final, when memories are so easily carved in stone?
