day 15, walking and wellness challenge.

The number fifteen in Angel numerology marks the manifestation of a harmonious life, a synthesis of matter and spirit. Angel number 15 refers to the material and spiritual, steady flow of energy, the source of power and cooperation.

Some things can just annoy you!

Yesterday I went to walk again in Moraira with my friend Debs. We enjoyed a cup of coffee before we ventured up the hill towards. El Portet. Dutifully wearing our masks, we both lowered them to take in a gasp of air as we reached the top. We are not spring chickens. I overheard a woman comment behind us complaining, that we were not wearing our masks.

RANT!

FGS, This has to stop. When did we all become so moralistic of others? I will soon be scared to go outside. Is that what these people want, or do they feel they belong to the morality police. We were not breathing over this woman and neither would we want to. WE WERE GASPING FOR SOME FRESH AIR TO FILL OUR LUNGS WITH OXYGEN, WHICH WE NEED TO STAY ALIVE.

I find all this an insult to my intelligence, Yep, I know there are some irresponsible people out there, but I happen to be somebody that cares deeply about her health and the health of other people. I do not comment when I see other people in restaurants tucking into junk food, and I move gracefully away from smokers who stand outside bars etc. All these actions will inevitably cost tax payers and the NHS. This woman was quick to judge me and I found it insulting.

I have morals but I also have values and I value my freedom to breathe in some fresh air.

This morning there was a post put out locally on social media, that police were stopping walkers and dog walkers for not wearing their masks in the countryside where I walk most days. Within a short time there was an argument created on the thread about which rule is right and which is wrong. Most of this is about how to avoid a fine. It is nothing to do with how to stay safe. None of us really, and probably will never know the answer to that.

I listen to my body, she is the best indicator of all. When we reached the top of that hill we needed fresh air, Not to be taken in through a dirty sweaty mask, but from the atmosphere.

The rest of my walk did not feel so great and I realised how much that woman and her comment had affected me.

I thought back to a memory many years ago. My mother had breast cancer and was pretty sick, My Aunty Peggy from Wales had come to stay to lend a hand. I was in my early twenties at the time. My mother had said she was hungry and fancied Bubble and Squeak. A combination of salty cabbage and boiled potatoes mashed together (Sounds disgusting I know) Aunty Peggy rushed to prepare it. My mother looked pleased as she took the first mouthful but then quickly changed her mind as she said she was feeling nauseas. She handed it to me to finish. My Auntie Peggy grabbed the fork and said with concern, “I had better get you a clean one” I grabbed my mother’s fork back and said, ‘she is not a leper, she is my mum and she is not a disease’. Poor Aunty Peggy, she realised what she had done and apologised to my Mum.

bubble and squeak.

I am not entirely sure of why I thought of that story only that I do not want to treat people as if they are a danger to my health. I remember the Aids issue. Princess Diana made such a statement when she took away the fear of people and their judgement of touching aids patients. Of course none of us want to give Covid to somebody that maybe has an underlying disease.

Debs and I went for some breakfast and sat in a cafe on an outside terrace, All was well until the waiter decided to wash down all the tables and umbrella stands with a chemical spray which got down our throats. Replacing our masks, handy for disguising the smell of chemical sprays and outdoor cigarette smoke we sniggered and shook our heads in disbelief. Poor guy, he was just doing his job. We decided to not stay for another coffee.

If everybody with a slight sniffle becomes a possible Covid case, how on earth will we survive this. The rebellious and conspiracy theorists will come out shouting ‘It’s all nonsense’ and that will also get us all confused. Children will constantly be kept home from school and Mr Sneezy will be frowned upon.

As we learn more about Covid and the real risks, whatever is the truth or not, we can at least learn to live in harmony and not fear. Yes it is a frightful disease but not as frightening as people, and how nasty they can be to each other. In the words of Maya Angelou

I agree with Maya Angelou, I invite HOPE. Fear can stay away behind closed doors. If you want to be on top of a hill, then be prepared to breathe in fresh air. If you want to walk free, then breathe in the fresh air. If you want HOPE, then stay in good health and breathe calm. Find a place to do it. If you see what you think is danger then gracefully walk away, without any condemnatory comments and smile sweetly. You will make someone feel better if you do, perhaps even yourself.
